The wind was whistling around the house when I woke up and there was no disappointment when I got to the beach. Went with the 5.5m Kahoona and it was a little underpowered. A 7m would have been ideal but I need one. The water was a real mess, with walls of frothy stuff just waiting to grab the board when the kite didn't have enough raw lift. Probably should have waited for the tide to drop but there were 4 or 5 others going out so out I went. Struggled a bit in the lulls and just didn't have consistent enough power to deal with the bigger surf further out, so stayed in the relatively shallow water most of the time. Got out too far on one occasion and got eaten by a wall of water curling over way over head height followed by the complete wash - rinse wash - spin cycle :) Was sure something must have broken but astonishingly all was OK and the kite was still in the air ! Throughly knackered now and probably just as well I havn't time to get out tomorrow.
